About the Ceremony
This is a sacred cacao ceremony rooted in ancestral remembrance, re-indigenization, land stewardship, accessibility, and embodied healing.
The cacao served in this ceremony is sourced from Bonita Cacao, stewarded by a Dominican woman whose family has cultivated cacao for generations. Her work is devoted to preserving criolla cacao, the most ancestral and rare cacao variety. Many of the trees from which this medicine comes are 90–100 years old, and more than 7,000 cacao trees have been planted in dedication to ecological preservation, cultural continuity, and care for the land.
The island now known as the Dominican Republic is ancestrally called Quisqueya, a Taíno word often translated as “Mother of All Lands” or “Great Land.” In Taíno cosmology, sacred nourishment and life-sustaining abundance are central to right relationship with the land. Honoring the name Quisqueya is a way of remembering the land beyond colonial renaming and acknowledging cacao as a medicine that long predates modern borders, trade routes, and extractive systems.
Cacao has long been revered as the Food of the Gods—used ceremonially across the Americas for prayer, creativity, communion, grief processing, and healing. What is less commonly known is that cacao’s relationship to the Caribbean is deeply shaped by colonial theft and suppression. Caribeño, Indigenous, and Afro-Indigenous peoples were often forced to grow cacao for colonial economies while being forbidden from consuming or practicing ceremony with the very medicine their ancestors knew intimately.
This ceremony exists in conscious relationship to that history.
Alexander offers this cacao as an act of reclamation, remembrance, and re-indigenization—not to romanticize the past, but to restore dignity, context, and right relationship to a living tradition.
Alexander will be returning from Quisqueya shortly before these gatherings, where he received an initiation on the mountain in direct communion with the land, the bosque (forest), and the cacao trees themselves. This ceremony is both an offering and a homecoming—bringing cacao back into conscious, ancestral relationship.
The cacao served will be Bonita Cacao’s Platinum and Gold varieties, prepared with prayer, reverence, and intention.
Meditation with Master Vito
Master Vito will be sharing the hung sau (I am spirit) meditation in the lineage of Kriya Yoga as taught by Paramhansa Yogananda, his guru. We look forward to connecting with the divine by embodying that energy within ourselves. This meditation features breathing exercises to prepare the mind and body. After, we connect with the divine through will power and focusing. This is a guided meditation that will help you connect deeper in your practice.
Medicine, Energy & Cosmology
Within ceremonial and energetic traditions, cacao is understood to work across the physical, emotional, and subtle bodies.
This particular cacao is taught to support integration of the 44·44 Gene Codes—a symbolic spiritual and energetic framework associated with harmony, coherence, and remembrance. Within this cosmology, cacao is said to:
•Support harmonization of the blood, carrying ancestral memory and vitality
•Encourage balance between the left and right brain hemispheres, supporting clarity, intuition, and integrated perception
•Gently guide the nervous system toward coherence and heart-centered presence
•Assist in light body alignment and deeper attunement to inner guidance
These teachings are shared as ceremonial and spiritual frameworks, not medical claims, and are intended to support reflection, embodiment, and personal integration.
Accessibility & Right Relationship
Many cacao ceremonies are understandably expensive due to ethical sourcing, labor, and preparation. At the same time, Alexander holds a firm belief that sacred medicine should be accessible—especially given the histories of extraction, exclusion, and prohibition surrounding cacao.
For this reason, the general ceremony is offered at $22.22, creating an entry point so more people can gather with the medicine in a respectful, intentional way.

Honoring the Land Where We Gather
This ceremony takes place on land currently known as Maryland, the ancestral homeland of the Piscataway, Nacotchtank (Anacostan), and other Algonquian-speaking peoples.
It is an honor to bring cacao—a sacred medicine of the Caribbean and Central Americas—onto this land with humility, gratitude, and respect. We acknowledge the original stewards of this place and recognize land remembrance as an essential part of ethical ceremonial practice.
